As winter fast approaches, our thoughts are turning to all the upcoming festive markets and events. We love this time of year, there's always such a great buzz around the events we trade at. One thing any trader will agree with is that the Great British winter weather can be pretty brutal and unpredictable when you're out in it for long enough! There are a few things we've found that really help keep us cosy, whether trading or as a customer mooching around markets in the winter months.
First up, is wear several thin layers rather than one chunky one. The warm air then gets trapped between the layers, keeping you toasty. You can take off layers too, if needs be.
An absolute must for us is a Haramaki, a Japanese belly warmer, or core warmer. We get ours from UK based Nukunuku who specialise in Haramaki
The Nukunuku haramaki are woven, cut & sewn in the UK, are unisex and super stretchy. They make such a difference to core warmth when we spend long periods outside. They've got knitted haramaki too, which are definitely on our list for this winter season. Fab prints too. How cute is this Manekineko Haramaki?

Gloves can be really cumbersome when working on a market, so for us, fingerless has to be the way to go. UK based Turtle Doves recycle cashmere clothes into fingerless gloves. Toasty without the bulk.
Sock wise, wool is a natural insulator and will help you stay warm. Wool adapts and reacts to temperature, so it keeps your feet comfortable. I love Pachamama Socks I'm a sucker for a fair isle pattern and they are pretty hard to beat warmth wise.
So, to keep warm, you can't go far wrong if you start with a Haramaki and layer up. Keep your head and feet warm and keep moving!
We'll be popping up at various Christmas markets in Cheshire and beyond this year. Really excited to be venturing out to Liverpool and Leeds too. Two fine cities right there. Hope to see you there.
Have a fabulous festive season. Stay cosy!
